Scam Rescue India is an independent digital safety initiative created to help people understand safer first steps after cyber fraud, online blackmail, account hacking, fake profiles, screen-share scams, Aadhaar/KYC fraud attempts, and other online scam situations.

When a scam happens, people often panic, search randomly, trust unsafe helpers, or share more information than they should. Our goal is to reduce confusion and help users move toward safer, official, and practical next steps.

Who we are

Maintained by a digital safety team.

Scam Rescue India is maintained by the Scam Rescue India Team under the VA Digital Safety Initiative.

We are an independent public-awareness and guidance resource. We are not a government department, police unit, cyber cell, bank, payment company, law firm, investigation agency, emergency helpline, recovery service, or NGO.

What we do

Plain-language guidance for common scam situations.

We create plain-language scam guidance for common situations such as:

  • UPI and bank fraud
  • Digital arrest scams
  • Sextortion and online blackmail
  • Fake profiles and impersonation
  • Account hacking
  • Screen-share and remote-access scams
  • Aadhaar/KYC fraud attempts
  • Family and senior-citizen scam prevention

Our guidance helps users understand what may have happened, what to stop immediately, what information they may need to organise, what mistakes to avoid, and which official route may be relevant for their situation.

All reporting, communication, and decisions are done by the user directly with the appropriate official authority, bank, payment provider, platform, police station, lawyer, or other qualified professional.

What we do not do

Clear boundaries keep users safer.

To keep expectations clear and users safe, Scam Rescue India does not:

  • Recover money, reverse transactions, or restore accounts
  • Promise refunds, arrests, account recovery, complaint success, or any fixed outcome
  • File complaints or reports on behalf of users
  • Contact police, banks, platforms, suspects, or third parties on behalf of users
  • Investigate cases or identify offenders
  • Provide legal, financial, police, banking, or professional advice
  • Act as an emergency helpline or crisis response service
  • Ask for OTPs, passwords, PINs, UPI PINs, CVV, card details, or banking credentials
  • Ask users to install remote-access or screen-sharing apps
  • Ask users to upload private evidence on the website

If anyone claiming to represent Scam Rescue India asks for OTP, password, UPI PIN, payment, screen access, remote access, or private account details, do not share it.

Official reporting matters

Use official channels for reporting and escalation.

For cybercrime reporting in India, users should rely on official channels such as the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, cybercrime helpline 1930, local police, emergency helpline 112 where required, their bank or payment provider, and the relevant platform's own reporting tools.

Scam Rescue India may explain these routes in simple language, but we are not affiliated with these authorities and we do not replace them.

If contact options are provided on this website, use only the contact method shown on the official Scam Rescue India website. Do not trust random callers, WhatsApp messages, Telegram accounts, social media profiles, or recovery agents claiming certain results in our name.
